Lisa Layera Brunkan At the end of the day. . .Moving beyond the Summit and towards Assimilation and Action

At the end of the day. . . It’s not about a profession, it’s about the kids. It’s not about books, it’s about a fund of knowledge. It’s not about technology, it’s about our collective future. -Last slide of Saturday's PowerPoint Presentation 'Cultivating Indispensability' Thanks to everyone for being so welcoming and kind, especially when I couldn't find the outlet to plug in my computer! Don't people have nightmares about that kind of thing happening?? I am grateful to SLJ for their… Continue

Heidi Estrin My other podcast...

This one's not really MY podcast, but I'm helping. The Association of Jewish Libraries has just launched its own podcast! It features author talks, panel discussions, workshops, etc, mostly recorded at AJL's annual convention, but other stuff will be included too. Some of it is quite academic, but there is definitely material for kidlit fans. So far we've got the acceptance speeches for the 2008 Sydney Taylor Book Awards, plus a panel discussion on teen literature with Carol Matas, Margo Rabb, a… Continue

Heidi Estrin The Book of Life Podcast

Hi! I'm the host of The Book of Life, a monthly podcast about Jewish books, music, film and web. As a synagogue librarian, this podcast helps me to promote the kinds of materials that can be found in my library. It also gives me a great excuse to call up authors, musicians, etc, and bug them with nosy questions! I hope you'll check it out at www.bookoflifepodcast.com. My latest episode explores the concept of "tribe" - as you know, Jews sometimes r… Continue

Dr. Mary Ann Bell I AM FIRST! BWAHAHAHAHAHA

I am taking a break from my self-assigned task for the day, which is to write a complete draft of an article I am working on. I have no business being over here! But I cannot resist being the first to post a blog entry. What is everybody packing for the trip? I will probably get around to that late this afternoon. Tips would be great! What gadgets do you bring? I am bringing two computers, my iPhone (of course), a Kindle, and a digital camera. Oh and if I remember, will throw in my flip cam. Wha… Continue
